Older people can be placed by social services and can maintain a level of independence and still have care and support on site.

Previously the council put up twelve old care homes but only six were sold.

James Hince Court care home was one of the homes which could not be sold because the old building needed too much refurbishment and it had limited scope for extensions and improvements.

The council have said they will work with the people and families in James Hince Court to ensure they are housed appropriately before the home closes.
