Creswell: Thief jailed for eight weeks just five days after being released

Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court heard how Adam Sutton, 26, of Creswell, was spotted breaking into two sheds at a home at the Model Village on 1st July and stealing a music system.

Two witnesses said they saw him try to prise open the door of the shed.

Prosecuting solicitor, Becky Allsop, said: “He had opened a shed door and was looking inside and he walked down the road with a number of items and minutes later he returned with another male and walked away with items.”

Sutton, who pleaded guilty to committing the burglary and failing to attend a probation meeting, told officers he had pulled the hinges off one of the sheds and stolen music speakers and had sold them.

Sutton has previous convictions for dishonesty and had been released from prison five days before the burglary.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in custody, ordered to pay a £180 court charge and £200 compensation.
