Clowne, Creswell and Whitwell: Campaign launched to stop vehicle crime

The campaign which will be running throughout August will look to educate the public on how to secure their vehicles and prevent this type of crime. Thefts from cars usually peak in the summer months as people leave windows open and leave vehicles insecure.

Detective Chief Inspector, Hayley Barnett, who is leading the campaign said: “Most car crime is opportunistic and therefore preventable, there are a number of ways that you can reduce the chances of your vehicle being a target.”

“Remember to lock all windows and doors when leaving your vehicle unattended, even if it is just for a short time. Ensure that all valuables are removed from your vehicle and not left on display.”

“Use a steering wheel lock, immobiliser, alarm or tracking device.”
