Cheat has to pay back benefits

A BENEFIT cheat claimed over £7,100 in benefits while he was working, a court heard.

Andrew Millard, 44, of Chapel Close, Clowne, admitted failing to declare he was in employment while claiming Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates Court last Tuesday.

Millard received over £7,100 in benefits over a 15-month period from August 2009 to November 2010.

He was given a 12-month community order with 70 hours unpaid work.  He must also repay the over claimed benefits, complete a five-day education, training and employment requirement and pay costs of £100.
