Following on from the success of last year’s West Lindsey District Council Community Awards, the authority wants to know who deserves recognition for the work they do.

The council wants to hear about the people and groups who strive to make their communities better, safer and happier places. Those people who help others and achieve great things without the thought of being thanked or reward.

The are four categories at this year’s awards.

The Area Champion award will go to six area champions, with one of them voted as West Lindsey Citizen of the Year 2013.

There will also be awards for Volunteer of the Year and Parish or Town Council of the Year.

The final award is a Special Recognition Award - a new award which can be a group or an individual.

The glittering award ceremony will be held on Thursday 5th December at 7pm at the Guildhall in Gainsborough.

Chairman of the council, Coun Irmgard Parrott, said it is important to say thank you for the hard work done by these people.

She added: “The work these champions carry out is not always shouted about, so through a ceremony like this we can show how much we appreciate what they do.”

Nomination forms are available at www.west-lindsey.gov.uk/communityawards.

The closing date for nominations to be received by the council is 31st October.
