North Notts Lion President John Prince presented the award to North Notts Lion John Simpson who has been a member of the Lions for approximately 48 years.

He is also involved with Lions International raising funds and organising the collection of items such as old spectacles so that these can be sent to help people in need both in this country and abroad as part of the Sight First Programme.

He has been described as a much loved and admired man, very much one of Lifes’ Gentleman, always the first to offer help and advice and a friend to everyone he meets.

At 80 years of age John is still seen out, whatever the weather, collecting monies for charity with the North Notts Lions Christmas Float.

Mention must also be made of Ann, Johns wife who has always helped and supported his work with the Lions.

Behind every good man is always a good woman.
