After a day’s action-packed racing, fans can stay on at the course for a concert from the great man.

Famous the world over, Sir Tom’s career has spanned more half a century, during which time he has amassed 36 UK top 40 hits with songs like It’s Not Unusual, Delilah, Kiss and She’s A Lady.

His success has also seen him win many accolades including a BRIT Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and a Silver Clef Award for Lifetime Achievement.

He was knighted by The Queen in 2006.

A man who counted the likes of Elvis and Frank Sinatra among his friends and performed some legendary shows in Las Vegas, he has reached a new audience of the last few years through his being one of the judges and vocal coaches on the hit BBC1 show The Voice.

But it is performing live that he still loves best and with a huge back catalogue of classic hits to choose from, fans at Market Rasen are assured of a memorable night.

“I’m really looking forward to appearing at An Evening At The Races this summer,” he said,

“I always have a fantastic time performing to the audiences at the racecourses so it’s my pleasure to be asked to return for another year.

“We play songs from my recent albums and we’ve also worked out some fun new arrangements on favourite tracks like Delilah.

“It’s important for me to keep reinventing songs with the band.

“It’s good to come up with different arrangements to keep us all on our toes.

“Whenever I put out new stuff I’m introduced to a new audience.

“If new material gets a good reaction they’ll also re-release back catalogue and often people will appreciate some lesser-known tracks from back in the day, as well as the hits.

“I’ve surprised myself how good the shows are.

“My singing voice is still as strong as ever, though as you get older, your voice gets lower and so my tone and range has gone from a tenor to a baritone.

“My lower tones are much richer than they were.

“What you lose on the swings, you gain on the roundabouts.

“I’m playing over 40 shows on this new tour and I’m really looking forward to it.

“ I’m performing at places I’ve never been to before; it’s always good to visit new places.”

Amy Starkey, Regional Director (East) of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “This weekend’s appearance at Market Rasen by Sir Tom Jones will be the biggest concert that the racecourse has ever staged.”

“It is a real coup for Market Rasen and Lincolnshire and, at The Jockey Club Live, we are delighted to be bringing such a global star to the county.

“Tom Jones is the complete performer and always sells out his racecourse concerts.

“Tom loves horse racing and music coming together because, as he says himself, ‘win or lose you still have a great time’.”
