The now Florida-based golfer started in sizzling form with a 67 including three birdies and an eagle putting him into 12th place.

He had no bogeys on the opening day but in the second round he picked up one and a double bogey in a round of 71 slipping down to 26th place.

A 66 on Saturday with seven birdies lifted him up to ninth place going into the final day.

He racked up a total of eight birdies in the final round but with four bogeys he had to settle for a 68 giving him a total of 272, 16 under par.

Fellow Worksop golfer Mark Foster missed the cut by an agonising one shot despite a birdie, eagle finish to his second round.

This week sees Westwood open his account on the US PGA Tour in California at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Foster will be in South Africa for the Joburg Open at the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club.

Serlby Park Golf Club Thursday Medal was won by Charles Donaghy 76-12=64 from Martin Hewitt 78-9=69 and Alan Chambers 79-10=69.
