COMMUNITY: Cancer Research UK

Worksop cancer research are holding a casino night at the Worksop Masonic Hall, Queen Street, on Friday, September 23, commencing at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12.50 per person and include a hot meal with a choice of beef in red wine, mild chicken curry and vegetable curry together with betting chips to give everyone a start. There will be two roulette tables and a black jack table and is run by semi professionals from Nottingham who will give guidance and instruction to all new players. A prize will be awarded to both the most successful man and woman during the evening. Tickets are available on the door. This event was held for the first time last year and was a very successful night so do come along and support this important charity to beat cancer.

The next meeting is on October 7, 2.30pm, at Worksop Post Grad Centre, Kilton, when their speaker, Joanne Blunt will talk of “Now and then”. Pop along and reminisce. Bridget Fisher kicks off their new season on October 5 with a talk about life in Deux- Sèvres. Bridget is a very entertaining speaker and will tell all about the house she owns in the Deux-Sèvres region of France. Don’t know where that is? Pop along and find out about it. Meetings are held in English on the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm at the Parish room, Tickhill, DN11 9HZ. If you haven’t yet enrolled for the year ( £15 for ten sessions), you can do so on the night.
