A renewable energy firm gave a £3,000 grant to help improve a playing field where local junior football teams play.

The grant came from the Penny Hill Wind Farm Community Fund which is owned by Banks Renewables. There are plans to provide over £500,000 of community funding over the 25 year lifespan of the wind farm which has been ring-fenced for use within the parishes of Ulley, Aston, Thurcroft, Whiston and Treeton.

The money will be used to make a positive long-term differences to local voluntary groups, environmental projects and community facilities.

If you are part of a community project and are looking for a grant contact James Eaglesham at the Banks Community Fund on 01913786342.
