Shireoaks: Letters from The Queen and a TV spot for busy Brownies
In September the Brownies made cards and wrote letters for the Queen to celebrate her becoming the longest reigning monarch in British history.
“Last week the girls received a letter of thanks from Buckingham Palace signed by the Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting,” said Brown Owl Kathryn Eadie.

“We are hoping to display the letter in Shireoaks Village Hall where we meet,”
Last month, the girls took part in a record-breaking attempt to make the world’s longest superhero cape.
This was created by Blue Peter in conjunction with this year’s Children in Need.
Blue Peter asked 100 Girlguiding units to make a spot showing how they have helped their local community.

Shireoaks were chosen and proudly made a spot to show how they collected litter along the Chesterfield Canal in July.
The spot was featured on the cape and shown on TV and on the Blue Peter website.
“I am so proud of our girls and their achievements this term,” added Kathryn.
