Six people have been arrested in a Christmas crackdown on theft and anti-social behaviour in Worksop town centre
Five people have also been issued with fines of up to £100 for street drinking and possession of drugs in the joint operation by Nottinghamshire Police and Bassetlaw District Council.
The operation, which began on November 2, will run until Christmas Eve as thousands of shoppers flock to the town centre to do their festive shopping.
A force spokesman said: “During November and December the town centre of Worksop attracts a large number of shoppers.
“With more members of public in the town centre, we traditionally see an increase in shop thefts, purse thefts, vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour.
“The operation is aimed at tackling these offences and providing reassurance to the public during this busy period in the run-up to Christmas.”
