A drunken agency worker hurled a bin through the window of a Mansfield furniture store so he could go to sleep inside, a court heard.

Marcin Wietrzycki was found in the back of Harveys, on Portland Retail Park, on the morning of November 13, by the store manager and a Police Community Support Officer.

Shattered glass had also damaged some furniture and the total cost of repairs was estimated at £2,167, said Robert Carr, prosecuting.

Wietrzycki, who has worked for an agency for two and a half years, told the court: “To be honest I barely remember it. I am very sorry.

“That night I lost all my documents. I have no idea how. I lost my wallet and my watch.”

Marcin Wietrzycki, 24, of Central Drive, Shirebrook, admitted criminal damage when he appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court, on Thursday.

He was given a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation to the store.
