Needless to say there were only nine riders lining up for the scratch race, two of which came from Gainsborough’s Trent Valley Road Club.

Shaun Pycroft and Justin Atkinson braved the conditions to gain points in the league competition, but in the end honours remained even with Justin beating Shaun in the first race but losing out to Shaun in the handicap race.

A week later the club event was a 10-mile time trial on the East Ferry circuit. It was a cloudy and breezy evening for the riders but Andy Lewin showed his class with a superb ride, clocking 23 minutes 46 seconds.
