Seconds lose to well-drilled Donny outfit

SECONDS RUGBY

Doncaster Amateurs 38

DONCASTER Amateurs, made up of the Doncaster Colts from last season, proved too quick and well organised for Dinnington.

Dinnington came under pressure from the kick off and were lucky not to go behind inside five minutes when they managed to get a body under the ball as Doncaster went to score.

Play was even for a short while after but with 15 minutes played the speed of the Doncaster backs caught Dinnington out and they went 5-0 down.

This set the pattern for the game with Dinnington working hard to move upfield and Doncaster replying with quick breaks.

Three more tries in the last fifteen minutes of the half had the home side 24-0 up at the break.

The second half started off more competitive with Dinnington making ground through their forwards.

The advantage they gained when a Doncaster player was sin-binned after seven minutes of the half only lasted three minutes before they had a player sin-binned as well.

As the half progressed Dinnington were having more success but they were caught out by a quick counter-attack just past the mid-point of the half when they lost the ball in the home 22 and could only watch as the home side sped away to score.

Doncaster repeated this feat close to the end of the game to run out comfortable winners.
