After winning their regional final at Skegness in May, Retford faced the other regional winners from across the country to see who would be crowned national champions.

In the end, though, the Retford girls were too good for the rest as Simon Brammer’s team went unbeaten all day, scoring 11 goals in the process, led by Amber Ellis with five and Chloe Neale with four, while Leanne Neale and Ellie Baines netted one each.

They secured the title with victory over Essex team L.T.D in the final.

Squad: Chloe Waugh, Amelia Huddlestone, Lily Baker, Maisy Whittall, Bethany Bennett, Ellie Baines, Macey Wilson, Ella Mowbray, Leanne Neale, Amber Ellis.

Retford United’s men are due to resume pre-season action at Worsborough Bridge on tonight (Wednesday, 23rd July, kick-off.7.45pm).

They then host Clipstone on Saturday (26th July, (kick-off 3pm) and travel to Dinnington Town next Tuesday (29th July, kick-off 7.45pm).
