Defender Josh Wilde admitted he was delighted to get on the scoresheet in Worksop Town's 2-0 victory over Leamington.

The left-back banged in the second goal to give Worksop the cushion they needed to see off the basement boys.

“It was an amazing win," he said. "I’m really happy with the performance and to get another goal is really good. We knew what a big game it was and we all had to step up and make sure we got the win.

“So, we did that which is exactly what we needed. We left them minimal chances and dominated the game.

“Obviously, we can’t rest on that now and we’ve got to get ready for the next game as we need to get to safety as soon as we can really.”

The 33-year-old has only returned to the side in the last few games, scoring the last two against South Shields and the Brakes.

Wilde explained how it was a tricky start to the season, and how pleased he is to be back in the side: “I got injured midway through last season and I carried on playing through injury to help the team.

“Obviously we got promoted so it was worth doing it, and then I had a massive setback and the injury was worse than I initially thought.

“So I was out for a long time, and I had to bide my time. I’ve stepped in and done my best I can, and I need to give them a headache of a decision for selection now.

“While I keep playing like I am and scoring then obviously it bodes well for the team and myself so long may it continue.

“Obviously it’s all about the results for the team, that’s all I’m bothered about. I’ve loved my time here and it’s wanting to get the team to safety whether I play or not.”

The Tigers now sit on 41 points, and Wilde expects a similar performance against Hereford: “It’s another massive one, another team that’s down there and it’s another six pointer which we’ve got to get a result from.

“We all know that we’ve got to turn up, show what we can do, put them under as much pressure as we can, defend well as a team. I thought we did that against Leamington, and that’s got to continue.”
