Horse-racing ‘Tip Of The Day’ — Saturday December 29

After returning to winning ways yesterday, our resident tipster, Scoop Racing (Richard Silverwood), looks to Ireland again for his big Saturday selection.

GLENS MELODY

Leopardstown 2.35 WIN

Champion Irish handler Willie Mullins saddles two in this competitive Grade Three contest for mares. And Zuzka, ridden by son Patrick, is likely to be all the rage after her close third to top-class novice Jezki last time out. But she is burdened with a 6lb penalty, so I much prefer Ruby Walsh’s mount, who receives 10lb and is regarded in the yard as the better horse. In five outings so far, the four-year-old daughter of King’s Theatre has been beaten only once -- and that by a smart rival likely to be making his mark at the Cheltenham Festival. Mullins’s exciting prospect was particularly impressive last time and can take this step-up in grade in her stride.
