After a free weekend, brought on by the big freeze, Toyne isn’t holding much hope for this Saturday’s planned home game against Louth Town.

The manager of the First Division’s form team told the Guardian: “This Saturday is very, very doubtful.”

“This break couldn’t have come at a worse time for us, with everything buzzing and the team flying.”

With little action on the pitch, Toyne and the rest of the club’s officials have been busy off the pitch – trying to raise much needed sponsorship funds.

He said: “We’re trying to drum up support, I’ve had a business meeting this week and I’ve got one next week.”

“We’re not resting on our heels, we’re doing everything possible to keep the club going.”

“Hopefully all this networking will come up trumps.”

A deal that will provide free transport to away games was expected to be signed this week, as the Guardian went to print.

Dinnington Town’s second team are scheduled to take on Rainworth away from home on Saturday, weather permitting.
