Blues snap up midfielder Tyrone Thompson

GAINSBOROUGH Trinity have bolstered their midfield with the signing of Tyrone Thompson.

The former Halifax, Crawley and Mansfield Town man has joined on non contract terms, from Evo-Stik side Sheffield FC.

Last season he featured for Lincoln City, but made only seven appearances for Sheffield during the current campaign.

Trinity chairman Peter Swann confirmed the 30-year-old’s arrival today, and said there could be more additions before Saturday’s FA Trophy clash with Tamworth.

“We would like to announce the signing of Tyrone Thompson on non contract terms. We wish him all the best,” he said.

“Both JD (Jon D’Laryea) and Mark Wilson have ankle injuries which will see them out of action for the next few weeks.”

“With the fact that the squad are carrying a few injuries and niggles we hope to announce a couple more signings in the next few days to strengthen the team.”

But one player leaving the Northolme is striker Dominic Knowles, who has been released after a disciplinary issue.
