Scott’s loan spell ends

TEENAGE utility player Jake Scott has returned to Barnsley, after his loan spell at Worksop Town came to an end.

The 19-year-old featured in Wednesday night’s win over Frickley, and although Tigers boss Simon Clark has wished him luck at Oakwell, he admitted an interest in bringing the youngster back to Sandy Lane.

“He’s one for the future, he’s enjoyed his stay here but he’s a great professional with aspirations and there’ll be a new gaffer at Barnsley so who knows.”

“I hope he gets on there, but it would be nice to have him back here.”

Matt Young told the Guardian he was surprised at how well Scott coped in a physically competitive league.

“I said to one of the lads that it’s hard coming into this level from reserve team football, because it’s quite a physical challenge, but his first touch was an absolute smash of a tackle and I think he’s done well.”

“It will do him the world of good playing here.”

“He goes back now, under a new manager there and you never know what could happen.”

“Fingers crossed he’ll get some game time, I’ve been really impressed with him.”
