Preview: Rotherham v Port Vale

Andy Scott’s men have only picked up two points from a possible nine in the last three matches, whilst Port Vale have failed to win in their last two outings.

Vale lay in 11th position, with 15 points after the first 10 games of the season whilst the Millers are in fifth position with 18 points.

This week Scott has revealed he will be looking in the loan market for a new player to help plug the leaky Millers’ defence who have shipped seven goals in the last two matches.

He criticised the players for defensive errors after last weekend’s 4-0 home defeat to Southend, where his side were outclassed by the more organised unit.

Rotherham will still be without captain Ryan Cresswell, who will be ruled out of contention with an ankle injury, which he picked up in training.

Although Johnny Mullins could make his first start for six months after appearing off the bench last weekend after recovering from his long term injury.

Alex Revell should captain the side while Cresswell is sidelined.

Port Vale come into the game after a hard-earned away draw with local rivals Crewe Alexander.

Vale striker Tom Pope came from behind to equalise two minutes after the Crewe took the lead in the 1-1 draw.

The Port Vale keepers have come under fire in the last week with assistant manager Martin Grew criticised the clubs two keepers.

Between the two keepers, Stuart Tomlinson and Chris Martin, they have conceded 17 goals in the 10 games this season. With Tomlinson keeping the team’s only clean sheet this season.

If Vale come out on top tomorrow they will jump above the Millers in the league whilst Rotherham could climb to the top of the table if results go their way.
