Millers ‘mugged’ by Crawley

A 20th minute volley from Brett Williams was cancelled out by second half goals from Tyrone Barnett and Josh Simpson .

The win keeps Crawley in second place in the league, equal on points with Southend United.

In a match dominated by Rotherham, Crawley adapted better to the strong winds in the second half and came back to take the three points.

Scott said: “The better side has lost but that’s what happens when you play the top teams you’ve got to be concentrating for 100 per cent of the time.”

“We’ve had numerous chances, I lost count of the amount of very, very good chances we had, we haven’t hit the target enough.”

“We’ve been mugged a little bit.”

Scott said he couldn’t fault the work rate of his players during the game as they were punished when switching off a couple of times.

“We’ve got to pick ourselves up because the actual performance on the whole taking away the mistakes was terrific, we’ve got no points and they’ve got three and we’ve missed a chance to get into the play-offs,” he said.

The Millers now sit in 11th in the table only four points away from a place in the play-off positions.

Next weekend they take a break from league action when they travel to fellow League Two team Shrewsbury, who they drew 1-1 with last month, in the second round of the FA Cup.
