RETFORD United’s unbeaten start to the season came to end on Saturday, as Parkgate ran out 2-1 winners at Cannon Park.
The visitors took the lead after a dangerous ball into the Badgers’ penalty box was glanced in by Forbes-Swindells.
The home side hit back immediately, albeit fortuitously, through Kyle Hadley. The winger picked the ball up on halfway and ran at the Parkgate defence before scooping out a cross which dipped late, leaving the visiting goalkeeper helpless.
But it was Parkgate who went on to get the winner through Will Senior’s brave header early in the second half to claim all three points for the travelling team.
