Rangers guarantee a place in the Ben White Trophy final

The Kerry Gainsborough Youth Football League’s Under 11s Ben White Trophy went into its fourth weekend and Forrest Rangers remained unbeaten after defeating Misterton 4-1, guaranteeing a home draw in the final.

Their opponents will be either Misterton or Blyth Bombers.

Midtown, who have had a good run in the league and are second in the table, have had a disastrous time in the Ben White trophy.

Again they failed to register a win as they were defeated 3-2 by a Marshalls FC team who recorded their first win in this competition.

L. Bell, K. Chapman and K.Martin were the scorers for Marshalls.

Blyth forced a 2-0 win over Marshalls Sports with goals from W. Cawley and O. Morse to put them in contention for a place in the final.

In the final games of the season in the Under 9s League two good teams in Blyth and Gainsborough Trinity played out an excellent 2-2 draw and showed why they are two of the better teams in this league.

Unbeaten Marshalls continued their fine run of form with a 5-0 win at home to Retford Whites.

Their goals were courtesy of L. Smith, C. Johnson, W. Hughes-Pyper, E. Waring and C. Spooner.

After weeks of hard work Blyton eventually recorded their first win of the season with a hard-fought 3-2 home victory over Marshalls Colts.

F. Holdsworth, B. Newton and J. Newton were the goalscoring heroes for Blyton with T. Cutts and J. Quigg replying for Marshalls Colts.

Misterton’s recent improvement continued as they recorded a 3-2 away win at Retford Stripes.

Goals came from S. Palmer (two) and O. Ellis, J. Bradshaw and R. Makings finding the net for Retford Stripes.

In the Under 8s League Ordsall defeated Gainsborough Trinity by a comfortable scoreline.
