‘No crisis’ at Worksop Town says boss

His side have picked up four points from the opening four games of the season and have conceded eight goals in their two away trips thus far.

And while Clark admits he wanted more from the first quartet of fixtures, he is adamant Tigers can fix their problems on the pitch.

“There’s absolutely no crisis,” he told the Guardian.

“It’s early doors with a reasonably new squad and the players I’ve brought in want to do well, they beat themselves up when they don’t do well.”

“I don’t look at internet forums but I understand the fans get frustrated, they want us to win all four of those games.”

“Will we play and defend better than we are right at this moment? Yes we will, absolutely.”

“There is no God given right to win football games but we will solve the problems we’ve got.”

Clark was unhappy with the way his men gave the ball away against a direct Grantham Town side on Monday.

Tigers lost 3-0 and had skipper Stuart Ludlam sent off on a miserable visit to Lincolnshire.

He said: “Grantham play a certain way and we knew about that and set up to defend it and we came in at half-time at 0-0 and we were okay.”

“We needed to keep the ball and threaten them but we didn’t do that – the game plan was correct but we didn’t do well enough on the ball.”

“One or two switched off and we’ve got to do better.”

“We had a bad day at the office.”

The manager insists that the fortunes of his men could change very quickly this early in the season.

“We’ve conceded far, far too many goals away from home and we don’t have as many points as I would like, but we know exactly where we are.”

“If we play to our level against Stocksbridge on Saturday we will be fine, and unbeaten in three at home and suddenly the picture changes.”

Hinting that he may employ a more defensive formation when Worksop visit North Ferriby United on Tuesday night, Clark added: “I will go tactical, we’ve worked on a couple of formations in pre-season to put a picture into the players’ heads.”
