Jordan has decided to get his boots back on after seven months in the dugout as he joins Handsworth, who this season have returned to Sheffield after previously owning Sandy Lane.

The 31-year-old has worked hard throughout lockdown to get in shape and has admitted that he is excited to be playing once again.

“Handsworth is a perfect fit for me,” said Jordan. “It is local, and the facilities are one of the best in Sheffield.

“I can’t wait until we can announce a start date and can crack on with preparing for the season.

“I hadn’t really considered playing again and I was looking for something more managerial-wise, but I am quite glad that my hand has been forced into getting fit and getting back into playing because I think I would have regretted it massively if I had have called my retirement this early.

“I wasn’t too sure if I had it in me at first; this lockdown has had a negative impact on a lot of people, but for me it has helped me out.

“I remember that the day Boris Johnson announced that the pubs were shutting, I weighed myself and I was 103kg and I couldn’t believe it, but as of this Monday now weigh 87kg.

“I have been picking a few niggles up which was to be expected as I hadn’t done anything like this for the best part of a year.

“It has been hard work, but I have sorted my diet out and I have done my training the best I could.”

Joining Jordan at Olivers Mount from Worksop Town are Connor Brunt, Andrew Gascoigne, Lee Hill, and Steven Wankiewicz.

Jordan believes that Handsworth should be challenging for promotion next season with the players that they have acquired.

Jordan added: “They are more than just teammates, they are my good mates away from football and I think it is good to have that connection with the boys because it helps the side become successful.

“We have the players to be able to get into that top three and anything other than that would show a huge lack of ambition on our part – I think that is what the gaffer will be saying.”
