Bob Poad’s men entertained Clay Cross Town and lost 7-4, in front of a reasonable crowd at Hard Lane.

For 30 minutes there was nothing in between the teams until Town were awarded a free-kick just outside the home penalty area.

White took the kick which deflected off the wall leaving Jonny Parker stranded in goal.

Just before half-time a series of defensive blunders allowed Need to score from close range and make it 2-0 to the visitors..

Park started the second half as they had finished the first – slowly, and Town scored a third almost from the kick-off through Hallam, before Park woke up.

Goals from Danny Harrison and an individual goal from Ben Carless brought the game to 3-2.

But Town responded, scoring three goals in five minutesthrough White, Need and Lowry.

Park hit back with a goal from Cocks before Parsons hit Town’s seventh.

Steve McDonnell finished the scoring with a free-kick from distance to make it 7-4 at full-time.
