Darts star ready for her tv debut

Local darts star Paula Jacklin can’t wait to make her live television debut this weekend.

The Lincolnshire representative is in action in the BDO World Trophy at Blackpool Tower Ball on Friday night.

She takes on 19-year-old Fallon Sherrock, a World and European Youth Champion in the quarter-finals of the newly established tournament.

At the age of 56, Jacklin will be the oldest lady in the competition, but she’s got a youthful fervour as she talks of her excitement.

“Absolutely it will be a tough match,” she said.

“But I’m absolutely buzzing.”

“We’ve raised quite a bit of money for cancer charity, and we’ve got about 30 or 40 people coming down to support me.”

“Everyone has been wishing me all the best, I can’t wait.”

Jacklin’s match will be shown at 5.30pm on Friday on Eurosport.

And while she hopes darts fans across Lincolnshire will tune in to watch, she’s already grateful for the support they’ve shown.

“I want to thank everyone in the county and all the friends and family coming.”
