Worksop 116 for 6

Marshalls 117 for 9

Marshalls picked up a single wicket victory at home to near neighbours Worksop on Saturday.

Winning the toss, Marshalls elected to bowl on what looked an interesting wicket.

Plumtree and Street took the new ball and were putting the opeining batsmen under great pressure when Plumtree got the ball to nip back in to make the first impact.

Ridler and Arulananthan replaced the opening bowlers and kept the score tight.

A couple of chances were put down in the field before Snell was introduced and found immediate success, the worksop batsman caught by Plumtree at mid-off.

Whitlam worked well with Plumtree to get a run out, and with overs running outa batsman chipped out to Plumtree, off Snell’s bowling, and another was stumped by Favill.

Marshalls’ reply didnt start well losing Whitlam (0) caught behind in the first over.

This gave Karkach and Metcalfe the rare opportunity to bat together.

But runs were hard to come by and Metcalfe (4) was soon bowled.

Karkach was joined by Cawte in the middle, and after some good running Karkach (15) departed, bowled.

Favill was given a chance up the order, but soon had a new partner with him as Cawte (6) snicked off to the Worksop keeper.

A misunderstanding between Plumtree and Favill caused the former to be run out for no runs.

Snell and Favill pushed the score on with a 30-partnership, before Snell (15) top edged the off spinner.

Favill continued to impress with some splendid shots, and 13-year-old Zak Metcalfe (3) looked comfortable at the crease until he mistimed a drive straight back to the bowler.

After a well made 36, Favill was bowled, and although Marshalls were 30 runs short of the target, good work by Street and Ridler saw the hosts to a well earned victory.
