The Nottinghamshire seamer enjoyed a summer to remember on the international stage, taking 29 wickets at 13.41 across five Tests against West Indies and Pakistan.

The 34-year-old is seventh on the all-time list of leading Test wicket takers, having passed 500 scalps this summer.

Broad joins Lewis Hamilton jockey Hollie Doyle, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Tyson Fury and Jordan Henderson on the shortlist for the BBC’s showpiece award.

The winner will be decided by a public vote and be announced on BBC One on Sunday 20 December.
