Marshalls celebrate a successful 2013

Marshalls Cricket Club celebrated the successes of 2013, with their annual prize presentation.

Thirty club members showed support on the evening, at Sufian.

The main point of celebration was how far the club has progressed in under 12 months, attracting new volunteers and some fantastic young cricketers, giving the club a bright future in the coming years as they continue to grow and learn the game.

Martyn Snell organised the event, while Stuart Whitlam gave a superb speech and dished out the awards.

Snell took the batting award with his 679 runs, at an average of 52.

He also picked up the bowling award thanks to his tally of 31 wickets.

Lynton Karkach was the Young Player of the Year, scoring 230 runs at an average of 20.

The Callum Glendenning Award went to Zak Metcalfe, a 13-year-old who played 20 senior games in his first season of competitive cricket, contributing wickets and catches.

Ant Favill was handed the Clubman Award, for helping to run the kitchen and maintaining ground equipment throughout the season.

And Club Champion made it a hat-trick of awards for Snell, claiming more overall points than any other player on batting, bowling and fielding.

The Lincolnshire Otter contributed a meal voucher for the main raffle prize.

Marshalls now begin a full winter programme of preparations for 2014 with net sessions running throughout winter.
