Hutton looks to impress in Australia

Brett Hutton featured for England in their quarter-final defeat to South Africa in the ICC Under 19 World Cup in Australia.

The Carlton cricketer, 19, took the wicket of Theunis de Bruyn (54) to finish with 1-48 off his 10 overs as South Africa posted 244.

England, needing just shy of five runs an over, lost opener Daniel Bell-Drummond early on. Alex Davies and Ben Foakes steadied the ship but when the latter went for 54 in the 28th over, with England reduced to 102-2 in reply.

His exit signalled a middle-order collapse and England slumped to 141 all out, with Davies also making 54. Hutton made seven coming in at No. 10.

Following their 103-run defeat, England faced Bangledesh in the first semi-final in the battle for fifth place.

Bangledesh posted 217 for 7 but England rose to the challenge and skittled the runs off with four wickets remaining.

Foakes smashed a quick-fired 47 off 39 balls and Adam Ball (34*) and Aneesh Kapil (33*) saw the tourists home with 10 balls to spare.

Hutton will be hoping for a return to the side in Friday’s fifth place play-off with West Indies.
