But the Marshalls opening pair of Karkach(10) and Cawte (3) struggled to make runs early on, batting for 12 overs for little reward.

Metcalfe (48*) came in at three and provided some much needed experience to a young Marshalls side.

Favill (6) was caught after mis-timing a drive.

Snell (38) then joined Metcalfe and the pair started to increase the run rate before Snell was adjudged LBW.

The only other contribution was a gritty display from Barker who finished unbeaten on 12.

Street and Arulanathan took the new ball for Marshalls, and Street in particular bowled very well.

But the Anston openers soon got the scoreboard to 40 with some lovely shots on display.

Barker and Snell were introduced to the attack and the control of both bowlers made it very difficult for the batsmen to score, as wickets started to tumble.

But the visiting team still made the Marshalls total with four wickets remaining and two overs left.

It was another good display from the Marshalls youngsters, who were joined by debutant Cameron Girven, the fifth player to be added to the club this season.

Match sponsor was The Sign Workshop.

Marshalls are away to Woodsetts this Saturday and welcome back Whitlam, Green and vice captain Plumtree, who has been out all season with a broken hand.

Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm onwards.
