Members of 1st Whitwell Scout and Guide Group will lead a parade through the village, stopping at the two wells in turn. Both wells will be blessed by members of the local clergy and hymns will be sung.

There will be a special performance of The Well Dressing Song by the newly formed Whitwell Community Choir.

Once the wells are blessed, everyone is invited to Whitwell Community Centre to enjoy a fresh cream tea. The celebrations this year will be better than ever, with an arts and craft fair raising funds for 1st Whitwell Scouts and Guides.

The choir will be holding a workshop, the art stall will be making a collage of the well dressing, there will be a reading by author Joanne Fairhurst, a busk stop in collaboration with Holmefield Jam Night as well as a performance by Whitwell’s own ukulele band Casper and the Fleas. Hilary Ellis will be selling and signing copies of Making Well Dressings the Whitwell Way.

The parade starts at 2.30pm on Jubilee Road and the fair runs from 3-5pm. To enquire about a stall, call Hilary Ellis on 01909 723092.
