Staff from RNN Training, which is part of the RNN Group formed from the merger of Rotherham College and North Notts College, spent the day as apprentices at Magna Science Adventure Centre and The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week,
Business development manager, Charlie Grayson, and head of employer partnerships, Tim Gladman, both of RNN Training, visited Magna to work alongside apprentices Molly May Charlesworth and Danny Wade, who both spend one day a week at Rotherham College as part of their apprenticeship.
And Lisa Williams, operations manager at RNN Training, visited Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and spent the day with apprentice Cecily Hicks, who is studying business and administration at Rotherham College.
Charlie said: “It was a fantastic experience, I got a real insight into what our apprentices do and it is positive to see them being given so much support and responsibility.
“With the Government committed to creating three million apprenticeships by 2020, there is no better time to consider apprenticeships than now.”
Commenting on her experience, Lisa Williams said: “Going ‘back to the floor’ and seeing apprentices like Cecily making a real impression at the NHS is extremely rewarding.
“Hearing her talk so positively about her experience was inspiring.
“Hopefully we can place more young people with employers to help create the workforces of the future.”
Cecily added: “I see my apprenticeship as an investment in my future.
“You earn a wage, get work experience and at the end of it you get a recognised qualification.”
