Thieves have taken signalling cable at Bingham, causing disruption to East Midlands Trains on the Liverpool Lime Street/Nottingham/Norwich and Nottingham/Grantham/Skegness routes.

Network Rail is currently on site trying to fix the problem with new cables.

Some trains on the Liverpool Lime Street/Nottingham/Norwich route will be unable to run whilst others diverted and delayed by 20 minutes.

All trains on the Nottingham/Grantham/Skegness route cannot run and will be subject to short notices cancellations and alterations in both directions between Nottingham and Grantham.

A replacement bus service will run both directions between Nottingham and Grantham.

A spokesman for East Midlands Trains said: “Currently we are expecting the line to fully reopen within 2-3 hours and for normal train service to resume at around 11.30am.

“We are very sorry for the delay to your journey this morning. “
