Teens try to sell iPhone

A TEEN who stole an iPhone and tried to sell it to a pawnbroker has appeared in court.

Callan Stevenson, 18, of Stuart Avenue, Boughton, near Ollerton, admitted the charges of theft and fraud by false representation at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.

A 17-year-old who admitted being jointly involved appeared separately at the youth court. He cannot be named for legal reasons.

The court heard how the pair had stolen the phone from a friend’s house on 19th December 2012.

Stevenson tried to sell it on but pawnbroker staff refused as they thought it was stolen.

Defending, Ian Pridham called the theft ‘opportunistic’. Stevenson was handed a 12 month community order with 100 hours unpaid work and education and training activities.
