Stole meat for heroin

A DRUG addict stole meat from a shop to pay for her heroin habit, Worksop Magistrates’ Court heard on Wednesday.

Natasha Grant, 33, of Garside Street, admitted taking the meat, worth £30.96, from Marks and Spencer on 26th November.

The court heard she was caught inside the shop with the meat in a Farmfoods bag, which she planned to sell to buy heroin.

Defence solicitor David Verity said Grant had recently been released from prison for breaching a community order.

He added that she was due to start a methadone programme, but until an appointment had become available this week she was taking heroin.

Sentence was adjourned for reports until 13th December.
