Police still searching for little girl seen on A60 near Worksop

AN APPEAL from Notts Police to identify a young child reported to have been walking alone along the A60 near Worksop yesterday morning has failed to identify her.

Last night, The Guardian reported that a young girl was seen walking along the A60, close to Cuckney and also reported to have been seen close to the turn-off for Creswell between around 8.30am and 8.40am on the morning of Thursday 16th February.

She is described as white, aged between five and eight years old, wearing a pink coat and carrying a back pack.

Police say that despite a number of calls from additional members of the public who reported seeing the girl since the appeal was launched, no child has been reported missing to either Notts or Derbyshire Police.

Numerous area searches and house-to-house enquiries have since been conducted in a bid to locate the girl and confirm she was safe and well.

A police spokesman said: “We are still keen to identify this girl to make sure she is safe.”

He added: “Her welfare is the most important issue to us, and relatives should have no concern about calling the police if they think she could be the one we are appealing for.”

Anyone who thinks they know who the girl is should contact Notts or Derbyshire Police on 101.

The Notts incident number is 133 of 16th February.
