Ordsall: Hall open to the community again after refurbishment

Ordsall Village hall has re-opened for community use after an extensive refurbishment, much of which was undertaken by a team of volunteers whose ages ranged from teenagers to those nearer 80 years old.

The redecoration was undertaken during the school summer holidays to minimise the disruption to regular hall users.

Other recent works include the replacement of the ceilings and lights in both the main hall and the new kitchen, installing new windows and doors, refurbishment of storage areas and the creation of a small meeting room

Much of the work was made possible through generous grants received from WREN.

The Hall is owned and managed by All Hallows Church and committee spokeswoman Helen Richards said: “As the village of Ordsall has grown throughout the subsequent years, the need for a friendly local hall to act as the hub of the community has also grown.

“The hall is at the heart of many local events, both private family parties and public occasions. Many local organisations such as the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts plus the Rainbows and Brownies share the hall for their weekly meetings with a toddlers group, a community art group and over-50s keep fit.”

The new-look hall was official re-opened at the village’s annual Scarecrow Festival.
