Missing sergeant is safe after search

A missing Notts Police sergeant has been found safe after a police search was launched when he failed to return home.

Colin Evans was traced to Redditch, in the West Midlands, on Tuesday 12th March where West Mercia Police took him into their care.

The 51-year-old had failed to return home after work in Mansfield on Monday 11th March.

Officers and staff had been searching for Sgt Evans since he was reported missing by his wife on Monday.

He had finished a night shift at Mansfield Police Station at around 7am on Monday.

Then he was seen on CCTV at King’s Mill Hospital, where he had attended for treatment for minor injuries sustained from a fall and discharged. He is thought to have left the hospital on foot at around 9am.

At 11am his wife contacted the police to say her husband had not returned home, which was out of character.

And at 11.30am a colleague saw him walking along Blidworth Lane, off Southwell Road East, near Rainworth.

Police had a number of sightings of him during the time he was missing, including one which was confirmed in Nottingham City Centre.

Mr Evans was found on Tuesday evening.
