Langold: Matthew and Millie win Worksop Guardian’s Draw Your Mum competition

From baking cakes to helping with spelling, multi-skilled Jane Parry is the perfect mum, according to her two children.

Matthew, ten, and Millie, seven, of Langold, entered the Worksop Guardian’s Draw Your Mum competition and their artistic efforts have been rewarded.

“My mum is very fun because she bakes with me,” said Millie.

“She gives me big hugs when I am feeling down, I love her lots.”

The St Mary and St Martin Blyth Primary School pair nominated Jane, who works as a child care practician at West Bassetlaw Childcare, for the way she cares for them both, whether that be making cakes at home with Millie or helping young Matthew with his upcoming SATs.

“My mum is firm but fair,” Matthew said.

“She takes us to fun places and always puts us first. “She is very supportive.”

Jane said that both her children are always playing with crafts and making oil paintings and she hopes they will continue to show their creative side.

“I am very proud of them,” Jane said.

“What is interesting is that they both have drawn very individual pictures from the way they see me.”

“It was a wonderful surprise when I found out they had won, it made me cry.”
