Hemswell Cliff folk doing their bit

LITTER pickers were out in force in Hemswell Cliff this weekend, doing their bit to keep the village clean and tidy.

Around 30 volunteers donned hi-vis vests, grabbed their bin bags and set to work - despite freezing temperatures.

“The litter picks have been going for about a year now. They really make a difference in terms of Hemswell’s appearance and community pride,” said Chris Cooper, chairman of Hemswell Cliff Residents Association.

People of all ages came out in force - with the promise of a bacon butty at the end.

A huge mound of rubbish was collected by the troops, and taken away by West Lindsey District Council’s Street Force department - who also provide all the equipment.

Some of the children made a special discovery of a tin filled with copper coins worth £7.

The next litter pick date will be in the residents newsletter.
