Harworth: Anger sparked by theft of yellow bike which was proudly installed to mark Tour De Yorkshire passing

The bike, a BMX Titan Vibe which was originally black but was painted yellow to coincide with the event, was snatched from Respect Green Burial Park on Scrooby Road last weekend.

Respect Direct Services funeral home erected the bike at the burial park, which is set to be passed by the Tour De Yorkshire as it makes it way through Harworth in late April, to show their support for the event on behalf of the town’s community.

Gordon Tulley, owner at Respect Direct Services, said: “It’s unbelievable, that’s all we can say about this theft.

“It is so deflating to think that someone can sink to such low life theft as this.

“We are proud to support the community in any way we can, and this free public event is a fantastic opportunity for every business to show their support for such a great event.

“It would be such a shame if other businsesses had to put up with having their bikes stolen from their display areas too.

“Little can be done with this bike as it was painted with yellow line marker, making it unusable.”
