On Monday 8th December four incidents relating to burglaries or attempted burglaries were reported to Lincs Police, having occurred overnight in the north of Gainsborough and Morton.

At 3.30am police received a report that an alarm had been sounded at a property in Connaught Avenue, Gainsborough.

Police attended and it was discovered that an offender or offenders had attempted to break in by forcing a lock at the property.

Nothing was missing and it is not believed any rooms were entered.

Just over an hour later, at around 4.40am, a burglary was reported at a property in Morton Close, Morton.

A rear door window had been smashed and offender/s reached in to grab keys without entering the property.

A white Vauxhall combo van was stolen from the address, which was found just over five minutes later abandoned on Walkerith Road.

Nothing else was taken.

At around 7am on the same day police received a report of an attempted burglary at a property in Hawthorn Avenue sometime overnight.

A side door had been damaged but offender/s were not successful in gaining entry.

Then at 9.40am police received a report of an attempted burglary at a property in Walkerith Road after a kitchen window was found forced open.

At this time of year it is not unusual for residents to have items such as Christmas gifts in their homes.

Please keep these out of sight and in a place that it not easily accessible, and the same goes for items such as keys, wallets, phones, and handbags.

Burglars often look for items that are easy to grab and take away quickly, and easy to sell on.

Also, at this time of year when the days are shorter and hours of darkness are longer, please set timers and leave something like a television or radio on inside your homes when you are not in.

Also let neighbours know if you are going out and ask them to keep an eye on your property.
