Dinnington: Former X Factor star hosting colossal fundraiser at Squirrel pub

Former X Factor favourite Terry Wistanley has taken a break from performing to host an action-packed fundraiser at the Squirrel pub.

Terry, 54, who appeared on the X Factor in 2011, is temporarily managing the pub after touring in a West End show and will host the fundraising day on Saturday 31st May.

He hopes to ‘raise thousands’ for a children’s heart surgery unit at Leeds Teaching Hospitals after a customer told him his son was undergoing heart surgery.

Terry said: “I really want this to go with a bang. I have managed to raise a couple of hundred pounds so far but I’d like to aim higher.”

“The support from the Dinnington community has been wonderful. I would like to offer particular thanks to Jane Frew, one of our regulars who has gone out of her way to help our with the fundraiser.”

There will be a range of activities and attractions throughout the day, including a fairground, bouncy castle, paintball, lucky dip and bric-a-brac stalls.

There will also be the chance to win some top prizes including a remote control helicopter and Tesco vouchers.

The fundraiser will start at 11am at the Squirrel pib. Terry will perform a headline show from 7.30pm.
