Police officers 'punched' and 'kicked' in Worksop assault

Seven officers suffered minor injuries after bottles and glasses were thrown at them during a large disturbance outside a snooker club in Langold.

The assault happened on Doncaster Road at around 1am on Sunday, July 26.

A police vehicle was also targeted during the attack on emergency workers.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that could help them trace the culprits.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers.

He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police also detained a 31-year-old woman who has now been charged with criminal damage.

Lisa Parish of Cross Street is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on October 29.

Police Constable Richie Howcroft said: “Thankfully the officers suffered only minor injuries and are now being fully supported following the incident.

“We were quickly on the scene and made two arrests. They have since been released, so we are appealing to the general public to help us with our investigation.
