Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court heard how David Price, 31, of Manse Avenue, Creswell, had allegedly started taking the drug Mcat which triggered arguments before he assaulted and harassed his partner.

Becky Allsop, prosecuting, said: “Price started taking Mcat and arguments arose.”

“Price became paranoid because of bruises on his partner’s body suggesting she was having another relationship.”

There was a row, according to Mrs Allsop, and Price pulled his partner’s hair and struck her face.

On another occasion he was abusive.”

Mrs Allsop added: “The defendant sent her texts accusing her of seeing other men and he phoned ranting and raving at her and he got to her door and burst in and grabbed her and squeezed her.”

Price then chased her and grabbed her, according to Mrs Allsop, and struck her to the face and she felt blood coming from her lip.

Mrs Allsop said Price also stamped on her foot and as she tried to phone police he grabbed her and insulted her.

Price admitted to police he had sent texts and had been arguing because he believed she was seeing someone and he admitted assaulting her.

Mrs Allsop also said that during Price’s time on bail he insulted her outside a pub and outside a house.

Price pleaded guilty to assault and harassment after the incidents in July.

Magistrates adjourned the case until September 30 to consider probation reports before sentencing.
