Maggie Grant, 10, collected more 4,000 plastic bottle tops whilst on holiday in August.

Her efforts were more than enough for her collection to be swapped, giving the hotel a wheelchair for a disabled child.

Her feat was recognised by two certificates from the I-5 Live team at Holiday Villages, who were most impressed with her hard work and acknowledged her efforts by bringing her up on stage in front of around 2,000 holidaymakers.

It came as a surprise to dad Sean, who said: “We’re really proud of her, for a 10-year-old to do something like that for someone else on holiday is remarkable.”

“She heard about it by chance when some other girls were talking about it, and just starting collecting - she’s always been the kind of girl to see something through.”

“It got to the stage where other guests would keep hold of their bottle tops and wait for Maggie to come and collect them - it was great to see.”

“I had a lump in my throat when they got her up in the stage - we’re so proud of her.”
